Humidifiers

warm or cool mist?

Do you recommend a cool mist humidifier or warm air humidifier?

Humidifiers can be an effective tool to help manage the symptoms of many illnesses. I find myself recommending there use more and more since “cold” medications are no longer approved for use in children under 4 years old. Humidified air is effective in helping alleviate nasal congestion and croupy coughs. I do not recommend daily humidifier use for more than a couple weeks as I am concerned about mold growth over time.

While both warm and cool mist humidifiers are effective, I recommend cool mist humidifiers for safety reasons. Children can burn themselves on the heating coils and water vapor of warm mist humidifiers.
