Milk for two year olds

milk for babies

At 2 years, children should be transitioned to low fat, skim milk. Our children have seemed to prefer skim and the transition has been seamless. Often children prefer whole milk and initially refuse to drink skim. This problem can be remedied by transitioning to 2% milk and then to skim.

Skim milk should be part of a healthy low fat diet. Milk should be served at meals and in an open plastic cup. Sippy cups should be reserved for water. see transition from a sippy cup to a regular cup and sippy cup concerns.
