Newborn Breast Swelling

newborn breast swelling

My 2 week old baby’s breast are swollen. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal and common. Infants of both genders can have breast swelling in the first few weeks of life. This swelling is caused by the mother's hormones (estrogen). It is best to leave them alone as manipulation can increase the swelling. Take your baby to the doctors if there is discharge, redness, tenderness or progressive swelling.
