Red Dye #40

I have recently been reading about the possible side effects RED #40 (artificial food dye) can have on children.

What are your thoughts on this? Does your family generally avoid foods that contain this and/or other artificial dye's?

We the Gordon family do not specifically avoid products containing red dye #40. Our generally dietary philosophy is put your eggs in multiple baskets. Eat a wide variety foods especially fruits and veggies and try to eat them close to there natural state. (I’m still working on this myself)

After you submitted your question, I did a little research. The few abstracts I found were exclusively rodent studies. While some did find differences in mice exposed to red dye #40, most studies showed no effect. The studies that found changes in red dye #40 exposed rodents often reached varied conclusions. I would be more concerned if they had a common thread. I agree more red dye #40 research is need.
