Salmon Patch

salmon patch forehead

Salmon patches are common newborn birthmarks. There are two main types. Marks at the base of the back of the head and those similar to that in the picture at the right. This second type consist of red vascular marks usually on the forehead and eyelids. They “flame up” and temporarily become redder when the child cries. No treatment is necessary as these salmon patches gradually fade over years.
